Creative schools workshops with Mark Titchner Artist Mark Titchner, working with Commission Projects, visited three Trumpington schools (Fawcett Primary School, Trumpington Meadows Primary School and Trumpington Park Primary School) to introduce pupils to his practice and run a series of creative workshops inspired by his new artwork for the new GBR Anglia Cambridge South station, Together We. During the visits, Mark delivered whole school assemblies, sharing examples of his work in public spaces and talking about the inspiration behind Together We. Pupils were invited to think about the themes of connectivity and togetherness, and were also introduced to other public artworks in their local area. Smaller groups from each school then took part in a hands on workshop exploring decorative letterforms. Each pupil designed an individual letter, experimenting with pattern, colour and texture. When combined, their letters formed the phrase “TOGETHER WE”, creating a collective artwork that

Golden Apples of the Sun Artist Tour and Talk (with Q&A) – FREE Shezad Dawood and Idit Nathan 5.30pm to 6.30pm on Thursday, 21 April 2022 Homerton College, New Dining Hall, Harrison Drive, Cambridge CB2 8HP. Artist and filmmaker Shezad Dawood presents his recently completed commission for Homerton College entitled ‘Golden Apples of the Sun’. Dawood’s three-part artwork includes a 7-metre wall-based ceramic work for the reception of the College’s New Dining Hall, subtle interventions into the external façade and an experimental short film. Prior to the presentation, Dawood will lead a short tour of the work introducing and explaining the influences and ideas behind it. Cambridge based artist Idit Nathan will introduce her forthcoming project for Homerton College followed by a discussion of both projects by the artists.
