Julian Wild was commissioned in 2016 by the University of Oxford to make a sculpture for their bio-medical research centre: The Li Ka Shing Centre for Health, Information and Discovery.
His sculpture, ‘Origin’ responds to the ground-breaking work that takes place at the Li Ka Shing Centre, in which huge volumes of genetic data are stored, analysed and then used to define disease more accurately and identify targets for novel drug therapies. The title alludes to the importance of the small inception point from which monumental ideas can grow.
The project was funded by the Chinese philanthropist, Li Ka Shing.
