Fifteen invited artists were commissioned to create works inspired by the impressive spaces of the Foundling Museum and its inspirational art and social history collections. The exhibition, that ran from September - November 2007, resonated with the Foundling Museum's history providing a centre for experimentation and showcase for artists in the 18th Century.
The Foundling's collection includes major works by Hogarth, Gainsborough and Reynolds, and incorporates an international Handel Study Centre and gallery.
RSVP: Contemporary Artists at the Foundling was part of Commissions East's Escalator Visual Arts programme, an initiative funded by Arts Council England, East.
